Overview

Astro's Pizza, nestled on King Street in Enfield, Connecticut, offers a robust and comforting dining experience for fans of classic American-Italian fare. This pizza restaurant crafts a diverse menu that goes beyond traditional pies, featuring standout items like calzones, ziti, and a variety of hearty platters such as the gyro and seafood salad. The menu’s breadth caters well to families, casual diners, and anyone seeking a familiar, satisfying meal in a straightforward setting.

Pizzas here are a key draw, with creative toppings that include sausage and double pepperoni, a flavorful blend of garlic, peppers, and onions, and a rich four-cheese option enhanced with pepperoni. The crust often earns compliments for its balance of crispiness and chew, providing a solid foundation for the generous toppings. Complementing the pizza are the house salad, praised for its freshness and well-crafted dressing, and the garlic bread, which consistently delights with its savory appeal.

Service at Astro's Pizza tends to highlight friendly, attentive staff, contributing to a welcoming atmosphere. The space itself reflects an older, simple décor that some guests find nostalgic and cozy, while others note it could use some refreshing. Despite this, cleanliness is consistently maintained, reinforcing a comfortable dining environment. Patrons looking for a relaxed place to enjoy draft beer alongside their meal often find the beverage offerings clean and refreshing.

While most customers express satisfaction with the food quality and service, occasional critiques mention inconsistencies such as overcooked pasta or rushed service near closing times. This suggests that while the culinary experience is generally solid, there are moments where attention to detail could improve.

Overall, Astro's Pizza appeals to those who appreciate classic Italian-American dishes with a homey vibe. The restaurant fits well for local families, groups of friends craving pizza and gyros, or anyone wanting a straightforward, hearty meal without pretense. It’s an approachable spot where flavor and friendly hospitality remain front and center.

Great Liver, Bacon and Onions. It was cooked perfectly and had lots of flavor. The house salad and dressing was very good and fresh. The garlic bread was perfect. The server was very friendly and attentive. The place is very clean and has some must return for items. The draft beer was clean and fresh. The only con was the pasta shells were over cooked. Had they been Al dente they would have been perfect with the excellent gravy.

No issues with the food as everything was good! Just the waitress we had was not the best, she seemed annoyed to have to wait on us..

The pizza didn't live up to the hype. We tried to order a second drink and were told no, they were closing in 15 minutes. The place was older and run down.

The restaurant is within walking distance to my church. So, I decided to stop by to check them out. The parking lot was empty, but there were two cars near the kitchen side of the building. So, I called to see if they were open. I was happy that someone answered. I parked and went inside. It appears that the restaurant serves mostly takeout orders as there were no customers inside. I ordered baked shells, which were very good. The cook who bagged and gave me my order was very pleasant, unlike the woman who took my order. The restaurant faces the main street, but the parking lot is in the back, so it's hard to tell if they are open from the street. I recommend adding a permanent welcome sign on the main street side to indicate they are open and attract more customers. There are also opportunities for them to update the interior and to make dining in more appealing. I also recommend adding lines in the parking lot to facilite parking. I'll definitely order from this restaurant again.
